1) Slice up 4-5 yams and boil for a half an hour in salted water with the skins still on.
2) When they are done, drain them and slightly cool until you can take off the skins without burning yourself
3) Arrange them in a large baking dish and slice up 2 granny smith apples.
4) Cut one half of a cube of butter into pieces and drop over the yams and apples along with a couple teaspoons of cinnamon and a half a cup of brown sugar.
5) These can bake for as little as 30 minutes at 350 degrees, or at a slower temperature for a lot longer.
